We’ve taken a closer look at your finances, Bill. How would you describe your financial situation?

It’s not great. It’s been really tough since last spring, when I had to quit the movie theater.

You’re saddled with quite a lot of debt.

Yes, a couple hundred thousand kronor. But I’ve always made payments on time. I’m not subject to any garnishment from the Enforcement Agency.

How have you supported yourself since you left the movie theater?

I had to cut out all unnecessary expenses. Then I took on a number of odd jobs via an app. But most important, I rented out a room in our apartment.

How would you characterize yourself, Bill?

What do you mean?

Well, what sort of person are you?

I don’t know. Pretty ordinary, I suppose. Like most people.

Do you ever have violent outbursts?

Definitely not. Ask anyone. I don’t get fired up for no reason.

Does the name Jesper Lövgren mean anything to you?

Yeah, yes, of course. But whatever he told you, I’m sure it’s not true.

What do you mean?

Jesper Lövgren lies. He’s done it before.

When has he lied?

After Miranda died, I tried to get help from social services. You know, for a while I could hardly get out of bed each morning. Jesper Lövgren was the counselor for our case.

Lövgren filed a police report on you. What happened?

I wasn’t myself. My wife had died and … I was called in for a meeting with social services. They accused me of being a bad parent and threatened to take Sally into care. I lost it. I said some inappropriate things and threw some documents on the floor. It was in no way a threat or the “violence against a civil servant” that Jesper Lövgren wanted to make it into. The prosecutor closed the case and cleared me of all suspicion.

But you lost your composure? Is that an accurate characterization of what happened?

I lost everything. My wife had just died, and they were threatening to take my daughter away from me.

So you do sometimes lose control?
